Arch Enemy - Former Guitarist Rejoins

The following statement has been issued on Arch Enemy's website:

Arch Enemy are pleased to be able to announce that original guitarist Christopher Amott is rejoining the band with immediate effect. The band, having finished an intense 18 month touring cycle all over the world promoting the "Doomsday Machine' album and "Live Apocalypse" DVD, are currently busy working on songs for their new studio album.

Christopher surprised many by departing Arch Enemy at the end of the "Doomsday Machine' recording sessions in 2005, having been in the band for 10 years (starting with Arch Enemy at age 18). Christopher followed his urge to see the outside world and find what else is out there apart from music. Having done that, the time is right for him to return to the fold with a newly injected bite and focus and to resume his career.

Commenting on the re-grouping announcement he states:

"This is very exciting for me, returning to Arch Enemy as a fulltime member! Right now we are working on our forthcoming album and I'm very pleased about the way it's turning out. The new songs are fast and furious with lots of melody! To all the people who sent me kind messages while I was out of the band, thank you for your support, it helped me a lot. After this (much needed) two year break, I'm looking forward to getting back on the road. I hope to see you all later this year!"

Arch Enemy mastermind Michael Amott compliments his younger brother Christopher perfectly in style and chemistry and together they have become one of the most infamous and ripping guitar teams in extreme metal. Michael comments:

"So, we are back with my brother Christopher on guitar - it's a huge rush to have him back playing in his signature style! He's jumped in at the end of the songwriting process for the new album and added some of his unique spice! I feel Christopher's playing has matured and is more precise and even faster than before! Guitar fans are going to freak on the stuff we are getting up to on the new album!"

The last two years have been the busiest and most successful touring campaign of Arch Enemy´s entire career, so the many fans both old and especially new can now look forward to witnessing Christopher´s return to the stages of the world. In regards to Fredrik Åkesson, the Swedish guitar-wizard who has been touring with Arch Enemy for 18 months and who can be seen on the band´s latest video clip for the song "My Apocalypse", Michael states:

Arch Enemy - South American Tour Postponed

Arch Enemy's previously announced South American tour, which was originally set to take place in early January, has been pushed back three weeks. An official statement from the South American promoters explaining the decision reads as follows:

"We want to inform all of Arch Enemy's fans that the South American tour has been postponed three weeks, with the final confirmed dates between January 27 and February 1. This decision was based on two key points - the logistic problems, and the holiday season. All of us - the promoters of the tour - have asked the band and management if they can postpone the tour three weeks. This was possible and kindly accepted from their side so we are happy with this new situation and we all are convinced we can now give the fans the best shows you have seen in a long time. Thank you very much for your understanding."

The rescheduled dates are as follows:

Jan. 27 - Teatro Teleton, Santiago, Chile
Jan. 29 - El Teatro De Flores, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Feb. 01 - Via Funchal, Sao Paulo, Brazil

Arch Enemy - Will Enter The Studio Next March

Rehearsals have begun and some songs have been written for the next Arch Enemy album. The band has announced that they will be entering the studio in March/April next year to start recordings.

Here is a posting by guitarist Michael Amott taken from the band's official website: "We will be continuing to rehearse through the next few weeks, working on the new songs. We have already written some 7-8 life changing and ridiculously huge metal hymns, this is all in my own (not so) humble opinion of course! You'll see... :-) This stuff is SADISTIC!

Totally looking forward to 2007 and all that it will bring, some things are planned like the South American tour (which is going to be so much fun I'm sure!) and the studio time we have booked for March/April. I'm aching to get in the studio and lay these tunes down..."

More updates and news will be posted soon.

Arch Enemy, Lacuna Coil - Vocalists Present Award To Slayer

Arch Enemy vocalist, Angela Gossow has posted the following message on her MySpace Page:

"Dear friends,

I was invited to the Kerrang Awards on Thursday. Its all industry and business, not much of a metal party with bands like Placebo and Muse. I had to do a couple of Jaegermeister shots with Kerry King to get over this blasphemy. But oh well. Me and Christina were there to give the 'Hall Of Fame' award to Slayer - the only band who truly deserved their award! REIGN IN BLOOD (and chop those suit-and-tie-wearing corporates into pieces please).

Check out from the Kerrang! Awards:

Flying these days is a huge hassle. You are not even allowed to bring some toothpaste in your handluggage. I made it through the metal detector bare foot (even flip flops have to be taken off) and were asked to throw my chapstick away.. I looked at the security guy and said.. "Listen, I am German, non-religious, love my live and will NOT attempt to blow up the plane with a lipstick".. Needless to say he did not get the joke. I felt a personal triumph though that he didnt discover my saline nasal spray. Ha! Rebellion.

We are in full-preparation mode for Gigantour. We havent been touring for a while (did the EU festivals instead) and I struggle to remember the essentials I have to bring for living on a tourbus.. SANITIZER! I-POD! KEYBOARD! LAPTOP! And a million other things. We will be going straight to Japan and Australia after this, so we will be 6 weeks non-stop away from home. I am looking forward to it a lot, it means I will have people around me who are doing the thinking and organizing for me (hello Woody, Mr. tourmanager, I am talking to you, hehe..) and I will meet a lot of cool people who actually like what we do musically. Its a reward money can't buy!

Please stay healthy and pure fucking metal until we come to town! I want to see you crazy lot in the front row!."

Arch Enemy - Cancel Appearance At Metal Camp Festival

Swedish Metallers Arch Enemy have had to cancel their upcoming appearance at Metal Camp Festival. One of the band members is involved in a 'personal family crisis' and so the band has had to pull out. Arch Enemy were going to play on the 21st July at the Slovenian Metal festival.

Here is a statement by Arch Enemy taken from their official website: "We very much regret that due to a personal family crisis for one of the band members, Arch Enemy will not be able to play at the Metal Camp Festival in Slovenia as advertised on Friday June 21st. We apologise to all the fans hoping to see us there, and we are very disappointed not to be able to come and play in your country. We are planning to tour Europe again in November/December this year and will do everything possible to find a suitable show to play in Slovenia."

In other Arch Enemy news, the band have announced that they will be headlining the Kerrang! Day of Rock Festival on August 10th in London, UK.

Here is a comment by Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott: "'After the full on mayhem of playing to 40,000 metalheads at Download this year we weren't expecting to be back in the UK again so soon... So it's really cool that we will be headlining the Kerrang! Day Of Rock next month. It'll be insane getting together with a few fans in such a small place but we are really looking forward to it and will dishing out some pure fucking metal, Arch Enemy style! In fact we're gonna turn it into the Kerrang! Day Of METAL!!'"

Arch Enemy - To Enter Studio In February

Finland's HardcoreSounds.net recently conducted an interview with Arch Enemy drummer Daniel Erlandsson. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

HardcoreSounds.net: You have had the chance to tour almost everywhere. Which show has been the most memorable to you so far?

Daniel: "We have done so many shows so it's quite hard but quite recently we visited Mexico and we did two shows for the first time there. Mexico City was the second show and that was one of the best shows I have ever done."

HS: Why was it so special? Where there a lot of audience?

Daniel: "We played to a full house. We played for like something in between 2,500-3,000 people and we had an amazing crowd response. The whole place was jumping all the time. I was blown away."

HS: And maybe next year we will hear new material from you guys?

Daniel: "Definitely. That's the plan too. We will start recording the new album in February and hopefully we will get it released sometime in the summer or fall of next year. We have already started writing music and we have tons of ideas."

HS: Do you have any finished songs yet?

Daniel: "We have a lot of ideas which loosely fit together so we are gonna start making songs really soon instead of just jamming with riffs. Making an album is like a big puzzle where you try to add all the pieces into the puzzle while songs."

HS: Where do you see the band in five years?

Daniel: "That's really a difficult question. If you judge Arch Enemy from the last five years from 2001 to this day the band has progressed with every album they have made, became bigger and bigger. If that continues we are going to be pretty big in 2011 and that's what I really wish."
